About Enterprise, AL
Enterprise, located in the southeastern part of Alabama, is famed for its quirky Boll Weevil Monument. This is the only statue in the world that pays tribute to an insect. Truth be told, Enterprise, AL, has many reasons to show appreciation to the boll weevil.
This pesky bug destroyed the cotton crop, which caused local farmers to branch out into different types of agriculture, such as peanuts. The resulting agricultural diversity enabled Enterprise to prosper like never before. The statue of a robed female holding a boll weevil topped trophy is located in the middle of Main Street, smack in the center of the intersection near Enterprise’s Downtown Donuts and the women’s clothing store Serendipity.
We are also proud to serve the many individuals who are of military personnel from nearby Fort Rucker. Those coming to the flight school to learn how to fly a helicopter want to make sure their vision is great. We see many patients a day who are looking to fly the friendly skies. We accept many vision plans including Tricare and Humana.
One of the nicest places to go for a stroll or spend relaxed time with your family in Enterprise is at the Johnny Henderson Park Trail. This park has a fun play place with plenty of activity units, a sprinkler pool for hot days, walking/running trails, and a charming duck pond. You can enjoy a picnic in one of the dedicated areas, complete with BBQ pits too. There is also a fantastic section for your furry pets to run around.
The Depot Museum, set in the heart of downtown Enterprise in the old railroad depot, puts the heritage of the region on display through fascinating artifacts. Many of the 19th century items on exhibit are associated with the city’s agricultural roots. Kids get a true feel for how difficult it used to be to cultivate crops! To glimpse what education was like back then, the Little Red Schoolhouse is an interesting site. The small wooden desk of yesteryear is featured alongside a pot belly stove. Another intriguing place that will teach you about the history of cotton in Enterprise is the Coffee Cotton Gin.
he Southern Broadway Dinner Theater is what you get when you combine flavorful food with top entertainment. Productions are held in this historic Hildreth Brothers building throughout the year, ranging from hip musicals to deep dramas. Food is served family style for a friendly taste of the South. To put a sweet end to your day in Enterprise, we encourage you to visit Sugar Time Bakery, on Main Street. Cinnamon rolls, jumbo cookies, berry bars and jacked-up brownies rank among our favorite treats!
